Adjusting Leverage

Set leverage from 1x up to each pair's cap in the Adjust leverage dialog, and see how it changes your maximum position size and margin.

Leverage in CPX is set by you, per pair, from 1x up to that pair's maximum. It controls how much position size your margin supports: the same margin at 4x opens twice the size it would at 2x. Set it before you open a position.

Leverage caps by pair

  • BTC, ETH and SOL - up to 5x
  • Other pairs (altcoins, commodities, stock perpetuals) - up to 2x

The cap for the pair you are trading is always shown inside the leverage dialog.

How to adjust leverage

  1. Open the Trade screen and pick your pair.
  2. At the top of the order panel, click the leverage button (it shows your current setting, for example 2x).
  3. The Adjust leverage dialog opens. Pick a preset (1x to 5x) or drag the slider.
  4. The dialog shows what changes as you move it: Max position at the selected leverage and the initial margin rate (at 2x, 50% of the position value is reserved as margin; at 5x, 20%).
  5. Click Confirm.

The dialog also reminds you that higher leverage increases liquidation risk - your liquidation price sits closer to your entry.

What leverage changes - and what it does not

  • Your maximum position size: max size = margin × leverage, less fees and slippage. The order panel shows this live.
  • Your initial margin rate: the share of the position value reserved from your balance.
  • It does not change your account rules. The Daily Loss Limit and Max Loss Limit are fixed dollar boundaries on your equity - they are the same at 1x and at 5x. Leverage only changes how fast your equity can move toward them.

FAQ

Why can I only select up to 2x on this pair? Each pair has its own cap: 5x on BTC, ETH and SOL, 2x on most other pairs. The dialog always shows the cap for the pair you have open.

Does higher leverage raise my loss limits? No. The Daily Loss Limit and Max Loss Limit stay exactly the same. Higher leverage means a larger position for the same margin, so your equity - and your distance to those limits - moves faster.

What is the initial margin rate? The percentage of a position's value reserved as margin when you open it. It is simply 100% divided by your leverage: 50% at 2x, 20% at 5x.

Do I need to close positions to change leverage? Set your leverage before opening a position. Your selected leverage applies to new orders on that pair.
