Take Profit/Stop Loss

Set Take Profit and Stop Loss when placing an order or on an open position. How Basic and Advanced modes work, and how TP/SL executes in CPX.
Updated 22 hours ago

Take Profit (TP) and Stop Loss (SL) automatically close a position when price reaches a level you set. A TP locks in profit at your target. An SL caps the downside if the market moves against you. When either level is hit, CPX fires a market order to close the position, so you do not have to watch the chart.

Setting TP/SL when you place an order

In the order panel on the right of the Trade screen, tick the TP/SL checkbox. It works in two modes, switched with the toggle next to the checkbox:

  • Basic - two fields appear under the order form: Take Profit and Stop Loss. Enter the price (in USDT) for each level you want. You can set both, or just one.
  • Advanced - click + TP/SL to open the pre-order TP/SL window. It shows your estimated entry and the current mark price, and for each level you can enter either a trigger price or a percentage gain or loss - quick presets like +5% / +10% / +20% for TP and -2% / -5% / -10% for SL fill the numbers for you. Click Save TP / SL and the levels are attached to your order.

Today TP/SL applies to the entire position. A partial TP/SL option is marked Soon in the terminal and is not yet live.

Managing TP/SL on an open position

Open positions are listed in the Positions tab below the chart, with their current TP and SL shown in the TP/SL column. From there you can add, change or remove levels at any time. Every active level is also listed under Open Orders → TP/SL, where you can review or cancel it.

You can also work with your levels directly on the chart. Active TP and SL levels are drawn as lines at their prices - drag a line up or down to move that level, and the change applies to the position immediately. It is the quickest way to trail a stop or adjust a target without taking your eyes off price action. And because CPX draws your Daily Loss Limit and Max Loss Limit on the same chart, your exits and your account boundaries are visible in one place while you manage the trade.

How TP/SL executes

  • When your trigger level trades, CPX closes the position with a market order at the best available price.
  • The closing fill is charged the standard 0.03% fee plus the live slippage cost, the same as any market order.
  • Triggered levels are recorded in Position History - the TP/SL columns mark which level was hit, alongside your realized P&L and total costs.

One thing to keep in mind: a stop loss helps you control risk, but it does not exempt a loss from your account rules. The Daily Loss Limit and Max Loss Limit track your equity at all times, whether a loss is closed by an SL or manually.

FAQ

Do I have to use TP/SL? No. TP/SL is optional on CoinProp - there is no mandatory stop-loss rule. It is simply the easiest way to pre-commit your exit levels.

Will I be filled exactly at my TP or SL price? Your level is the trigger. The close executes as a market order, so the final price can differ slightly - the slippage estimate you see on orders applies here too.

Can I set TP/SL on part of my position? Not yet. TP/SL currently applies to the entire position; partial TP/SL is shown as coming soon in the terminal.

Where can I see TP/SL levels that already fired? In Position History below the chart - hit levels are marked in the TP and SL columns of the closed trade.
